The other two darkspawn had been dealt with, and Ser Jory had come to Alistair's aid. The arrow was enough, and the darkspawn's body fell at her feet.ĭaveth emerged from behind the ruins, a new arrow already slotted into his bow. The darkspawn screeched and lunged for her when something whooshed past Dru's ear and embedded into the darkspawn's forehead. The blade sliced through its skin, deep enough to reach bone. She readjusted the dagger clutched in her right hand and swung toward the darkspawn's back. It was no surprise that the darkspawn lacked the parts, but the force of the kick was enough to cause it to stumble forward, away from her.ĭru twisted around and rose to her feet. Now beneath the darkspawn, she kicked blindly upwards, catching it in the groin. She lifted her daggers as she fell, deflecting the sword over her shoulder and into the soil.

Dru dropped her elbows, letting her back slam against the ground.

Her boots scraped against the dirt, she was losing grip. Her arms strained as she tried to maintain the block. The darkspawn pressed down against its sword, pushing her own daggers toward her. When it went to swing the sword down again, Dru crossed her daggers and threw them up, catching the fiend's sword in between her blades. Panicked, she slashed wildly at the darkspawn with one dagger, warning it away from her. She tried to dodge and fell backwards, the blade narrowly missing her throat. The darkspawn moved quickly and arced the sword toward her. Diving, she rolled across the ground and came up on one knee. The darkspawn noticed her approach and whipped its longsword at her head. One knife missed entirely, the other merely grazing across the darkspawn's skin. She took a second to aim at the darkspawn's unarmoured legs, then let the knives fly free from her grasp. She tugged urgently at the throwing knives, dropping one in her clumsiness, and slotted two between her knuckles.

Dru ran to intercept it, her hand flying to her belt.
